COPE

Barbara

Barbara Cope works from her home in Baddeleys Beach on the Takatu Peninsula. Early 20th century colonial photography

and elements of dance, film and theatre influence her interest in making work which is both experimental and conceptual; singular series of images which explore ideas around vanity, fragility, identity and aloneness.

From 2011 until 2016 she was involved with the group Matakana Images, co-ordinating and curating an annual show for the Auckland Festival of Photography which saw the group move from the Fringe sector of the programme to Signature shows from 2014.
